FUTURE OF TRIBALISM

would appear as if the Debate on the Ocampo Six suspects who are to travel to the Hague later this Month will never end. The formation of the K.K.K alliance by a section oof our politicians did raise an eyebrow both locally an internationally. Does Kenya’s politics still see tribe as a factor in electing a person who will take up the top seat in the country? Here are some ridiculous stories told by different tribes about other tribes in Kenya. Ill start with the LUOs.
A story narrated by the KIKUYUS“One day a huge black Mercedes was travelling between Nairobi and Thika after it had just passed Ruiru the huge machine overturned and was badly damaged. There was a kikuyu guy who saw the accident called the police who were nearby patrolling. The officer on Patrol asked him is there anybody killed?” The kikuyu guy answered.”There is nobody dead Sir, except Three LUOs hope u’ve taken the joke. The LUOS also have theirs “There was this bus traveling between Machakos and Mombasa its capacity was forty people but then there were these three KIKUYUs who insisted on going to Mombasa as the Bus was full the conductor allowed them to squat on board. At Sultan Hammud a policeman stopped the bus and charged the conductor with overloading” but we have exactly forty people as the law requires, complained the conductor.”No you have forty three, there are three people on board there. No there are no people on top there those are KIKUYUs.
There is a story that the LUYHA tell about this particular KALENJIN, who had gone for drink at the Hilton for the first time. As he entered the washroom at the Pub this Kalenjin Man had not seen the LUYHA dude who was watching him. The KALENJIN was cutely dressed IN A THREE PIECE SUIT Nandi Kenyan style bowler hat. As he came before the mirror and bowed in Shakespearian style to his own image with words Hey, how are you old chap? Longtime no see. When He realized that the LUYHA guy was watching him he dashed with the speed of Kipchoge Keino. To sum up all this sentiments on do we understand? Tribalism is not a problem in Kenya although we must watch it the foolish stories indicate that we are capable at laughing at tribalism in alight manner. There is no reason why my mother in Kakamega my aunties in Kisumu SHOULD HAVE A GRUDGE OVER YOUR MOTHERS IN KIAMBUI,KITUI,KOGELO or even KAJIADO.Tribalism is an ideology of the rich, the educated and the politically powerful among us. Its these people who have the need for tribalism in order to consolidate and protect wealth and power.

Friends

Some days back as I was relaxing @ home, I just started thinking of my schooling days and the Friends I've made along the way how all this friends have turned out to be,have they influenced my future in any way?Surprisingly,at school I was very friendly all the way from primary to High School. But in College things changed, that lonesome part of me lingered on and I would often drift away from society to enjoy my solitude. These isolated moments gave me opportunity to read, to mediate, to ponder or to evaluate some of the new friends I had acquired.
I have never trusted friends very few people are genuine to others in life. It is even more difficult in urban settings to find genuine friends. Again William Shakespeare saw these things very early in Hamlet we read”Be thou familiar; but by no means vulgar. The friends thou hast and their adoption tried, grapple them to thy soul, with hoops of steel, but do not dull thy palm, with entertainment of each unhatched, unfledged comrade give every man thine ear; but few thy voice. Take mans censure but reserve thy judgment”.Im of course taking a very pessimistic view of urban friends. But pessimism does not appear out of the blues. A so called friend who used to tell my mother everything I did, until I got to understand him better it runs in the Family. Minding other people's problems and telling others, other so called friends who will grin sweetly but their ultimate aim is your wallet. I know he’ll be reading this blog coz he has always admired the Kenyanchui’s in one way or another. I still hang with my friends knowingly.
